I had the pleasure of proofreading Sam's book. I found it readable and useable all in a comfortable length.

I really enjoyed it and look forward to employing the techniques for which I now have new terminology! As someone who has imitated the tone color of others without knowing how to succinctly describe it, I’m delighted to have new tools to bring to my students.

I found this book on tone colors to be well organized and researched. It is a great starting point to discuss and approach applying tone color to repertoire. I would highly recommend this to students as an introduction to the concepts of tone color because it is approachable and helps players to start thinking about sound!

This book is fashioned after Moyse's De la Sonorite' and Trevor Wye's "Tone" books ~ exercises accompanied by verbiage. It is full of helpful and colorful add-ons to exercises and tables. Links of played examples by the author are indispensable.

Your book is remarkably well organized, specific, interesting, technically detailed, but not overly difficult to read and understand.

I thoroughly enjoyed the cover page, layout of the pages, clear illustrations, and graphics, since I also come from another world of publishing and print marketing.

It is a wonderful tool for teaching and promoting great artistry with this unique instrument; the flute.
